The Glamorous Life of a Fashion Model

so not stylin.  Posted by Picasa

Was doing some research for my novel All Good Things Die in L.A.. One of my characters is bulimic, so I did google searches for both "anorexia" and "bulimia". Which is how I came across these photos.

These diseases are disturbing enough but this took it to a whole new level for me. Women have to live up to unattainable beauty standards as it is and are meant to feel inadequate everytime they open a fashion rag and some 5'11', 105 lbs chick, airbrushed to perfection and wearing $20,000 worth of clothing is staring out at you. Women (and men) with these diseases are literally killing themselves to lose weight and instead of even trying to project a healthy body image, you have to see this?

this has got to be a nightmare Posted by Picasa

Fashion models are already skinny enough as it is. They're like walking poles on which to hang clothing. These models here are sick! They should not be used as models for anything. I'm surprised they can even walk down the runway. I think it's totally irresponsible of both the designers and their booking agents.

not cute. Posted by Picasa

Is this considered beautiful? Is this considered glamorous? Is this the standard females are supposed to model themselves after? Are these even women?

and not glamorous. Posted by Picasa

I think not.

Comments:
soooo true. Society breeds completely unattainable standards for women. It's sickening. You are so right.

Are you sure those pics aren't photoshop-ed? I guess I want to beleive they aren't real, but I have seen some real photos of anorexic or bulimic women in similar condition, so I know it is possible.

Damn! Them biatches are waaaayyyy toooo skinny! They are skin and bones... disgusting. Truly disgusting and sad that we've come to this point in our culture. What does it say about us?
