PDA
An Israeli couple traveling through India (Pushkar in Rajasthan, to be exact) decided to be spontaneous and get hitched Hindu-style. Which is more like participating in an elaborate 2-hour ceremony rather than a quick 15-minutes of 'I Do's in a chapel o' love.
Well, it looks like they got a little impatient because, while the brahmins (priests) were still chanting hymns, the couple embraced and kissed(!). This could have been a mere peck or some major tongue action, it wouldn't have mattered. Because either way, they were going to get arrested.
The brahmins went a little crazy. They stopped the ceremony and filed a police complaint. The couple was forced to appear in court where they had a choice of paying out a fine of 500 rupees each (about $11) or spending 10 long days in prison. They paid the fine.
As one brahmin said, "We will not tolerate any cultural pollution of this sort."
