A Personal Goal
I'm very proud of myself. I've been getting back into running for the past few months, and have been working up to 5 miles, which I haven't ran since high school. I've approached this potentially heart-attack inducing, lung burning, stomach cramping, feet hurting task slowly.
I started off with Sonya in the spring running only 1-2 miles, then I took a long break, and had started running with Vince on Wednesday mornings for the past month during which I've gradually increased to 4.3 miles. But this once a week run just wasn't cutting it and there was no way I could motivate myself to go out running on my own when it's so much more fun to stay in bed or read or eat or...well, any number of things are much easier to do. So I found myself a second running partner with whom I've started running on Tues. and Thurs.
Long story short: I have finally worked my way up to 5 miles!!! Tonight I ran 5.2 miles to be exact. And I didn't die doing it! It actually felt pretty good.
We ran through Golden Gate Park and, running under the eucalyptus trees in the approaching dusk after a day of perfect 80 degree, I was struck with the awesomeness of San Francisco. I was happy. And still am.
